I woke to the news this morning that Andrew Breitbart, conservative new media mogul died overnight.
After spending time working for Matt Drudge and Arianna Huffington, Andrew created and launched his own array of media websites, Breitbart.com, Breitbart.TV, Big Government, Big Hollywood, Big Journalism and Big Peace.
The man brought back the time-honored tradition of undercover reporting, providing a launch pad for James O’Keefe’s ACORN videos, leading to the public disgrace of the organization. He continued with other work exposing Pigford Settlement fraud, Congressman Anthony Weiner’s misconduct and liberal media bias.
Frequently, he would take to calling out blatant mis-information reporting by the main stream media, calling for corrections and/or retractions using a pseudonym “Retracto, the Correction Alpaca.”
While I never had the chance to meet Mr. Breitbart, his actions showed me that traditional media has moved on, but the classic reporting was still out there – publications that provided a story that isn’t spun in favor of one party or another.
He also was never one to shy away from controversy, known for antagonizing the various protest organizations wherever he would go. He often reprinted attacks at him to show how radical people could be.
It is because of this, it comes as no surprise, many of the liberals that were targets of his websites launched a tirade at his family and organization after the news broke this morning. This to me is disgusting, and I hope those who did will regret it later.
I extend my prayers to Andrew’s wife and four children. The Los Angeles county coroner has indicated that there will be autopsy, so a cause of death has not been determined.
