As if there’s not enough other reasons for Sheila Jackson Lee to be voted out of office, we can add this one:
When I first saw this, I suspected that she is referring to North and South Korea, but in reviewing a statement released on the Congresswoman’s web site, she says:
If there was any reason to raise a point of concern, it was probably because I misspoke and did not add the phrase, after my discussion of North and South Vietnam, that “the nation was united as one.”
A nation, that has been united since 1976 – 34 years ago.
This is not the first time Jackson Lee has gone off-script, completely skewering the original intent. Nor, I doubt it will be the last. While she is likely to be re-elected in 2010, if the state does the redistricting properly, it could lead to her departure in a “new” 18th District in 2012.
